Will this fix the gaps between my bed slats?
Yes — that’s the primary job of a bunkie board. The board sits flat between your mattress and slats, creating an unbroken surface that eliminates gap-induced sagging and the feeling of your mattress sinking between slats. Works on wood slats, metal slats, and platform beds with wide spacing.
Do I still need a box spring?
BetterBunkie™ Bunkie Board sits on top of your existing slats or box spring — it doesn’t replace the foundation. If you want to eliminate your box spring entirely, look at SlatSure™ Vertical Bed Slats or BetterBunkie™ Endure (both replace the box spring with a low-profile alternative).
Which should I choose — Pro or Pro Heavy Duty?
Both versions use the same twin-wall polypropylene + industrial-grade fabric construction and are identical in size, look, and profile. The only difference is density and gap coverage. • BetterBunkie™ Pro covers slat gaps up to 8" wide. Best for standard slatted frames and platform beds with normal slat spacing. • BetterBunkie™ Pro Heavy Duty uses higher-density polypropylene. Slightly heavier. Covers slat gaps up to 10" wide. Best for frames with unusually wide slat spacing. Measure the spacing between your slats first. If your gaps are 8" or less, Pro is the right choice. If gaps are wider than 8", choose Pro Heavy Duty.
Will this work with my memory foam mattress?
Yes — memory foam mattresses tend to benefit the most from a bunkie board. Their softness is what allows gaps between slats to create dips. The bunkie board creates the continuous flat surface memory foam is designed to perform on.
Will it raise the height of my bed?
Only slightly. Both BetterBunkie Pro and Pro Heavy Duty are low-profile by design. You stay at the right bed height — significantly lower than a traditional box spring, which would add 7–9 inches.
How do I install it?
Remove your mattress, unfold the board, place it flat on your slats or box spring, and replace the mattress. About 60 seconds total. No tools, no assembly.

So Far So Good!!
I purchased this bunkie board to pair with a new metal bed frame. My previous frame was made with wooden slats and only 4 support points, and my 14 inch mattress began to dip in the middle. Decided to reinforce the new frame with this bunkie board so coils wouldn’t push through the slats. Best decision — mattress is super straight and even all the way around. No dips, indentations, or creases. Really good buy.

Contemplating a Firmer Mattress? Try This First!
So, so very pleased with this. My mattress is plush, and my back started to say otherwise. I was torn between this and a new mattress entirely, and I’m glad I went this route. Unboxing and putting these in place could not have been any easier, and it 100% firms up the mattress without adding a ton of height like a traditional box spring. Very high quality and sturdy. The top has a rubber surface, so the mattress stays put. Give this a try before spending a bunch on a new mattress.
