Do I still need a box spring?
It depends on which product you choose. BetterBunkie™ Bunkie Board sits on top of your existing slats or box spring — it doesn’t replace the foundation. If you want to eliminate your box spring entirely, look at SlatSure™ Vertical or BetterBunkie™ Endure (both replace the box spring with a low-profile alternative).

BetterBunkie Pro Heavy Duty uses higher-density polypropylene that handles wider slat gaps. Measure the spacing between your slats first — if the gaps are 8" or less choose Pro, if they’re 8–10" choose Pro Heavy Duty.
Will this work with my memory foam mattress?
Yes. Memory foam mattresses tend to benefit the most from a bunkie board — without one, the bars create the dips that ruin the foundational memory foam wears in the long run. Both SlatSure Vertical and BetterBunkie Bunkie Board work especially well with memory foam, hybrid, and innerspring mattresses if you have wide slat spacing or just need a flat solid foundation.
Will it raise the height of my bed?
Minimally. All three products are designed to keep your bed low-profile. BetterBunkie™ Bunkie Board adds about 1/3 of an inch. SlatSure™ Vertical Bed Slats and BetterBunkie™ Endure replace your existing box spring, so they actually keep the bed at modern, low-profile height.

Amazing! I bought a thin mattress for a guest room. The bed frame itself is rods and combined with the thin mattress it felt so uneven and squeaked. These SlatSure Bunkie Boards are very nice. The quality is heavy duty and sturdy as stated. I like the gray non-slip padding on the backside that keeps them from sliding. They come in two vertical sections linked together with strong fabric and Velcro. The finish is smooth, not like some other unfinished boards. I purchased the Queen size and they fit and support my queen size platform bed perfectly. They didn’t change the height of my 15" mattress which is great. Definitely worth every penny — especially if you have a platform bed with a few horizontal slats. They even included a handwritten thank-you note. Nice touch!

Excellent High Quality Slats!
I couldn’t be happier with these slats! These are really high quality and 1/2" thick. Each slat is 3.25" wide with about 2.5" between them — meeting the requirements of all the mattresses in our house. Very easy to set up: the slats are attached with fabric and just need to be unrolled across the existing bed frame. I prefer these to a solid bunkie board as they allow the mattress to breathe. Not cheap, but thick and very high quality — a worthwhile investment.

I have a basic metal bed frame with no box spring. The mattress was squeezing through the thin metal slats — not good. The queen size comes in two sections so it’s easier to maneuver, which I appreciated since I installed it by myself. The boards fit snugly under the lip of my bed frame so they don’t slide off. No more mattress material squeezing out the bottom. I suspect this will extend the life of the mattress. Five out of five stars.

Very easy assembly — I assembled it in maybe three minutes before consulting the instructions, so it’s very intuitive. The slats have hook and loop tape that matches the frame so they won’t slide. Solid, Heavy Duty — Perfect Ultra-Low Profile Mattress Support
As advertised: heavy-duty. Assembling the frame was easy but took a little time. The slats have a velcro strip that keeps them secure once installed, so there are no squeaks when you move on the mattress. Ultra-low profile — it allowed us to lower the height of the top of the mattress by about 5", which is key when our Mom visits and finds tall mattresses hard to navigate. Strong support — you don't notice the lack of a box spring. Build quality is excellent and good value for the money.
